Carrot is a domesticated form of the wild carrot, Daucus carota, which is native to Europe and southwestern Asia. Carrot Seed essential oil has a mildly sweet scent with woody, herbaceous warm notes. It is a biennial plant which grows a rosette of leaves with an umbel of white flowers that produce the seeds. It's soothing, earthy aroma is widely used in aromatherapy for the appearance of healthy-looking skin and gives a refreshing feeling when diffused. Carrot Seed oil helps to illuminate and even out skin tones, providing moisture and relief from common skin irritations like eczema, dermatitis and acne. It is an ideal ingredient for skin creams to nourish, rejuvenate and maintain the appearance of healthy- looking skin. The name is derived from the Greek carotos, for 'healing'. The herb was transported to the Americas where it became known as Queen Anne's Lace, but the edible orange root as we know it was developed by the Dutch in the 1700's.
